Research and Design for Rich Public Space and Public Life
Various human activities are done in cities in our ordinary life. Activities can be enhanced or discouraged by the physical environment. The purpose of urban environmental design is to enrich human activities, i.e. public life, and improve public space. It is based upon interests in and knowledge of human behaviors and physical environment of cities and regions. We study the design methodologies, while working with local citizens to vitalize and reshape the public spaces. Our fields include but not limited to; downtown revitalization, the design of walkable cities, parks, squares, greenery and waterfront areas, historic preservation and renovation.
